As part of the Titirangi Route Review the section of Rankin Ave situated between Clark Street and Margan Avenue was investigated. The review determined that there was a large gap in the bus network of over 840m between the New Lynn Interchange and the first stops on Margan Ave. There were no existing bus stops on Rankin Ave. The gap was considered to large and it was noted that the large residential catchment on Ambrico Place had no nearby bus stop.
The option selected was to install a pair of new bus stops, one on either side of Rankin Ave at the southern end to fill the gap in the bus network and improve public transport accessibility.
