The Victoria Street West project was initiated by the re-routing of several western bus services which required space to terminate, lay-up and start new services. During internal consultation with AT it was found that a new signalised crossing was proposed in the same section of Victoria Street West. Consequently, the opportunity arose to combine the two projects.

The final scheme design was for a mid-block signalised crossing outside 167 Victoria Street West with a bus layover stop to the west of the crossing and operational bus stops to the east between the crossing and Hardinge Street. A significant kerb extension on the western side of Hardinge Street and the throat island shifted further east to narrow the Hardinge Street approach to a single lane. |
