T² is involved with the bus stop and shelter capital works programme for Auckland Transport (AT). During 2014 the focus was project managing the various endeavours contained in this programme — the roll out of the new southern bus network as part of the Regional Public Transport Plan 2012 (RPTP). This has predominantly involved full route reviews to determine what upgrades and new infrastructure is required.
Completed projects include changes in Mayoral Drive outside the Central Library and Victoria Street West outside Les Mills. The central city is a particularly challenging environment with a large number of constraints.
The existing bus stop needed to be extended to provide the additional capacity required for recent route changes. Read more >>
The Victoria Street West project was initiated by the re-routing of several western bus services which required space to terminate, lay-up and start new services. During internal consultation with AT it was found that a new signalised crossing was proposed in the same section of Victoria Street West. Consequently, the opportunity arose to combine the two projects. Read more >>
The bus stop numbered 5236 outside 400 Titirangi Road was only 11m long and too short to accommodate a standard length bus which is 13-14m long. Buses also had difficulty pulling out of the stop due to the close proximity to the end of the indented bay. Buses were forced to pull out sharply from the stop resulting in a tail swing over a narrow footpath creating a problem for passing pedestrians. Read more >>
T² assisted Auckland Transport in working out a solution for bus stop 1039 outside 109-111 Onehunga Mall where the existing waiting area was too narrow to provide a seat or shelter facility. Read more >>
