Denis joined T² Engineers in March 2016 as a principal transportation consultant based in Wellington.

He has a lengthy career background in local government having worked for Auckland City Council as a transport planner for 15 years.  More recently he was with Queenstown Lakes District Council as a transport planner and manager for 9 years.

Denis has a great working knowledge of council processes and of the legislation relevant to local government and transport along with considerable experience leading the implementation of transport improvements including bus priority measures, intersection upgrades and other transport infrastructure. This work has frequently covered policy development, consenting, funding approvals and physical works.

He led the Auckland City Council’s 'buses first' programme in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s that implemented priority measures on key arterials on the Isthmus.

He also has experience in presenting evidence (usually on transport policy) for resource consent hearings before council commisioners and the Environment Court. Denis communicates effectively with 'stakeholders', both verbally and through more formal reporting.  He is skilled in the management of consultation and negotiation processes.

Prior to joining T² Denis worked with the Queenstown Lakes District Council, leading the business case development for the review of Wanaka and Queenstown Transport Strategies (2014-2016), the trial pedestrianisation of Beach Street in the Queenstown Town Centre (2015-2016), resolution of public access issues in the Hawea area (2013-2016) and the Wanaka and Frankton parking reviews (2015).
